It’s like staring at an empty word document during NaNoWriMo. I’ve never been good at writing up a first post. I am always so nervous. I’ve only done one proper first post and that was back in 08, I was about thirteen I think. every other time, it’s been more of a coming soon page. I’m already veering off topic, even though I never had one to begin with. How odd.
Perhaps it’s best to start with introductions. I am Angel Lopez, I’m a sixteen year old with two radio shows on a small community station and dreams of being an author. I live in a small town, hence the small radio station. I don’t do ads or play the hottest songs of today or anything like that. I do a show about audio fiction, and co-host a talk show about geeky things and books. It’s a lot of fun and a great creative outlet but my heart lies with writing.
To be perfectly honest I can’t tell you why I started writing, I think it was just to kill time. I started in the fifth grade with two of my friends, and it became my favorite pastime. I’ve started dozens of novels (baker’s dozens) and only one went past the first chapter. Currently I am going through my project from last year’s NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and trying to create a suitable novel out of it. I also am outlining a new YA Paranormal Romance. April first I’m also going to try to write a script for Script Frenzy, not sure whether it will be for an audio production or a graphic novel yet.
My writing cohorts has expanded from two to a solid four in my town, and dozens more online. I’m often times jealous of their skills, but still I’m proud of my writing as well. I’ve met so many encouraging and fascinating people that I feel obligated to write, if not just for myself but for them. I owe a lot of my motivation to them.
High school’s a bore most of the time so I need a blog to keep me amused and writing. Even if it is an aimless blog post, although I’ll try to keep those to a minimum.
This wasn’t a particularly long blog post, but the first one is never very long. Keep an eye on the feed for a free short story sometime this week, I need to stretch my writing muscles.
